What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?
The foundation of the Region Advisor role is similar to the Area Director role. The Region Advisor is the bridge between the District and the international organization. We are here to provide support, guidance, mentoring, and coaching to district leaders. It is not about my District - it is about their District. We need to build relationships with each leader in each District, recognize their unique needs and goals and support them to meet those goals.
What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?
I was the District Club Coach Chair during 2016-2017. It was my goal to help club coaches receive the recognition and the help they needed to coach clubs to success. We put in place a training program that all coaches went through. We paired each club coach with a Past District Director as a mentor. That year District 60 added over 20 new club coaches. Since then, I have coached clubs and members helping them achieve their goals.
Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?
As part of the District 60 leadership team, I remember what a valuable asset the Region Advisors were to me as Club Growth Director, Program Quality Director, and District Director. My Region Advisors were my bridge into the international world of Toastmasters. They provided information, guidance, mentoring, coaching, and friendship when I needed it. They gave me confidence. They objectively helped me when confronted with conflicts in my team. I want to pay this forward and help empower the next group of District leaders.
