What is your understanding of the Region Advisor role and how does your experience relate to the role?

The Region Advisor is passionate about helping leaders succeed in all the programs offered by Toastmasters International. Specifically, coach teams, mentor, help teams function, train leaders; small and large teams, develop leaders, cheer-on leaders (support), and advise leaders on strategies for success. The Region Advisor must be a good listener, knowledgeable, respected, and set the example for District leaders. The Region Advisor helps leaders achieve the District mission. The Region Advisor is also the liaison between Districts and the organization. I recently coached two District leaders in other Districts. As a District leadership team leader since 2017, I have experienced the very best in Toastmasters and have overcome adversity. I am passionate about the Pathways Educational Program. I believe I have the skill sets to help teams succeed. As a professional in the nuclear industry for 36.5 years, I am very organized and thorough. Building positive relationships was key to meeting performance targets. As a community leader with two other not-for-profit organizations, one leading a board of ten and the other leading over 220 volunteer members, I helped build cohesive, effective teams keeping them enthused and engaged. In these organizations, I developed training materials and delivered it to non-toastmaster audiences.

What is your experience with coaching individuals and/or teams?

In leadership, success comes with building and working in effective teams. Aside from District leadership, I lead a team as the Club Coach Coordinator in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. Also, as Club Officer Training Coordinator in 2016-2017. In the latter, the team consisted of seven trainers and the Program Quality Director. Last year I coordinated a team to review the club alignment for the District. As the Chairman of the Board of another not-for-profit, I coached our board in securing funding for a major community event and beyond. Specific to "individuals", I have extensive coaching experience inside and outside of Toastmasters. I am currently coaching a District leader in another District for the past 10 months. Coaching District leaders has helped leaders meet challenges and congruently helped me grow as a leader.

Why are you interested in serving as Region Advisor?

I am interested in continuing to give back to this organization on a broader scale. The member is our greatest asset. Decisions we make as leaders must consider the member first. I genuinely love supporting and encouraging others to be the best they can be as members and leaders in Toastmasters. I bring a wealth of knowledge as a Toastmaster for 17 years which includes District leadership roles since 2008. I am also interested in translating my experience as a Pathways Ambassador and Guide to this pivotal role. I bring exceptional interpersonal skills, empathy, passion, adaptability, and the ability to train, support, and guide leaders in their District journeys. I have built 11 new urban and two rural clubs as well as served as a Coach and Mentor since 2008. As a Region Advisor, I believe I can positively influence leadership teams in achieving the District mission of building new clubs and supporting all clubs in achieving excellence.
